Now that you've booked your trip and made your reservations, it's time to think about what to pack for your fabulous vacation in Belize.
Before anything else, it's important to remember that you can pick up additional supplies once you're in Belize in case you forgot something. Belize may be a small country with plenty of rustic charm, but you can get all the essentials that you need there, including personal hygiene items, medicine, sunscreen, or even an extra pair of flip-flops. The dress code in Belize is extremely casual, so you're best off packing light.
Top Priority
You won't be able to enter Belize without your passport, so make sure that this item is always within reach. Your passport will need to be valid for at least six months after your arrival date, so be sure to renew any necessary documents before leaving.
One additional priority item to make sure to bring with you is any documentation that you have concerning medication. Whether it's a copy of your prescription or instructions from your doctor, be sure to bring these with you when coming to Belize.
Clothing
The weather is fairly balmy all year round in Belize, so you can definitely leave the mittens and scarves at home. Bring clothes that are loose and light-colored, ideal for very warm and often humid temperatures. Shoes should be chosen for their comfort rather than dressiness.
Nighttime temperatures in Belize rarely get too cold, but you may want to bring in a sweater or wrap for when you're out and about in the evening. Don't forget to bring along any sleepwear, undergarments, and socks that you'll need as well.
Personal Items
If you have fair skin, be sure to bring protection in the form of sunglasses, a cover-up, and/or sun hats.
When packing your toiletries, be sure to bring any larger items with you in your checked luggage to avoid violating airline rules. The jungles and rainforests of Belize are incredibly vibrant natural environments, so be sure to bring protection against mosquitos and other insects. Bring your preferred insect repellant as well as creams that can minimize skin discomfort in case you do get bitten.
Other Items to Bring
One of the reasons why Belize is a gorgeous natural paradise is that the country benefits from ample precipitation throughout the year, so be sure to bring an umbrella, poncho, or gear to keep you dry on a wet day. It's also a good idea to bring along something for quieter moments such as a deck of cards, books/e-reader, or a DVD player.
You'll also guaranteed to be taking a lot of photographs, so pack any gear that you'll need for that. Belize has the same electrical standards and plugs as in North America, so bring along any and all chargers that you might need.
