San Ignacio Belize The Best Places To Go In May

Take advantage of the small crowds and amazing weather in May to visit Belize and explore the town of San Ignacio. This town is located in Western Belize in the Cayo District. It's full of reasonably-priced accommodations, good restaurants and plenty of transportation options.

Some top attractions to see in San Ignacio include the following:

- The Green Iguana Conservation Project
- Cahal Pech Maya site
- Sacred Heart Church landmark
- The San Ignacio Farmer's Market
-The Macal River

The low tourism season in Belize begins in May which means you can get amazing deals on hotels, resorts, vacation packages, tours and more. May also offers excellent weather, which means you can enjoy small crowds and nice, sunny skies during your stay in San Ignacio Town. As part of the dry season in Belize, May offers sunny skies, warm temperatures around 83 degrees Fahrenheit and pleasant nights with temperatures in the mid-70s.

Fewer crowds in May means that you're free to enjoy sites like the Belize Barrier Reef, the Actun Tunichil Muknal Cave (ATM Cave) and the Xunantunich Maya ruins at your own pace without having to rush through them. Off-season direct flights are usually more affordable too. Delta, Southwest and American Airlines from the United States all offer direct flights to Belize.

Where should you go in Belize in May? Take advantage of some of the most popular tourist attractions with fewer crowds. If you're staying in San Ignacio, you'll find the ATM Cave is also in the Cayo District. This cave is one of the top spots in all of Belize, and it's easy to see why. The ATM Cave was once a Maya religious stronghold and the place of many rituals and secrets. Booking a tour is easy to do from the resorts in San Ignacio. You'll head out to the Tapir Mountain Reserve and then embark on a 45-minute hike through the jungle to the cave entrance.

Another great site to visit near San Ignacio is the Cahal Pech Mayan ruins site. It's only about a mile walk from the town. It's also the oldest-known ruin site in the Belize River Valley with a construction date sometime between BC 1500 and 1000. Not many other Maya ruin sites in Belize are this easy to get to either.

Bird watching is also an excellent thing to do in May. Reserve a spot on a bird watching tour to see the wide variety of tropical birds in Belize as they move around in their natural jungle habitat.

Reserve your accommodations now at Cahal Pech Village Resort in San Ignacio for the beautiful month of May and let your Belize adventures begin.
