Visitors to Belize will be ecstatic to learn that there is one more reason to come and vacation in paradise after the Government moved to lift all entry requirements for travelers effective July 15th, 2022 — meaning no more testing, proof of vaccination, or health insurance is required.
The changes which have already taken effect at all of the country's land and sea borders including the Phillip Goldson International Airport are Belize's latest move to return the country to pre-pandemic tourism levels.
Via Statutory Instrument No.100 of 2022, which has already been passed into law, the government informed that the Belize Travel Insurance is now optional for entry, meaning that visitors can choose whether they want to pay the USD 18.00 coverage to avoid any incurred medical or nonmedical emergency expense while in Belize. The Government is, however, reminding visitors of the current plight that the air travel industry is presently experiencing with delayed flights and cancellation that is becoming a new norm.
Proof of vaccinations and negative COVID-19 testing are also no longer required for entry into Belize at all official land and sea points of entry.

The Government of Belize is nonetheless cautioning that with the highly contagious BA.2 and BA.5 subvariant circulating in the country, travelers should book their stays at any Gold Standard Hotel located across the country. These properties have been vetted and approved by the Belize Tourism Board and have undergone enhanced health and safety measures to ensure the safety of visitors.
Despite the dropping of all the remaining restrictions for tourists, the Government continues to encourage travelers to get inoculated and ensure that they are up to date with their booster shots as a means of added protection against the Covid-19 virus.
Belize's Minister of Health, Bernard says that, after more than two years into the pandemic, it is time for the country to move in a direction where, "it is now everyone's responsibility to decide whether they want to be vaccinated or not," and whether they want to practice social distancing, mask-wearing and any other health measures.
Earlier this year, the Government of Belize also removed mandatory mask-wearing as well as restrictions on socializing and mass events.
