December in Belize
December is the perfect month to visit Belize. A time of clear blue skies and deliciously warm sunshine, Belize is a land of both offshore islands and lush rainforest interiors bursting with wildlife. Offering a true smorgasbord of vacation options, a holiday in Belize can include activities as diverse as snorkeling on the reef, seeing the loudest monkeys in the world in the wild, and exploring vast ancient cities built thousands of years ago by the Maya.
Christmas is the most popular time for visitors in Belize. Beyond the fabulous weather, Christmas in Belize is special because it retains such a strong element of old-fashioned passion for the season. Belizeans are renowned for their genuine friendliness, and everyone is welcomed as family. Popular activities include picnics, parades, caroling, nibbling on chocolates, and visiting national parks and nature preserves.
The wild west of Belize's Cayo District is a popular visitor choice during December. Wild due to its majestic mountains and unspoiled nature, the Cayo District is home to vast forests, pristine rivers, and the tallest waterfalls in Central America. A paradise for bird and wildlife lovers, Cayo District can be explored on horseback, by canoe, or by hiking. Adventure options include zip lining and the unique Belizean experience of cave tubing, floating down underground rivers on an inner tube.
Cahal Pech Village Resort is the perfect place to enjoy all the best of Belize in December. The resort is just a few minutes away from San Ignacio Town, the eco-tourism capital of Belize and the celebrated Maya ruins of Cahal Pech. Canadians staying at Cahal Pech can also enjoy a tour to the nearby UNESCO World Heritage Site of Tikal just across the border in Guatemala.
