Make every day a holiday during your September Belize vacation.
The kids are back in school. The warm days of summer are ebbing away. You’ve still got vacation days to use up. One of the best ways you can use them up is by planning a Belize vacation in September to take advantage of seasonal price drops before they disappear.
Make your stay an ordinary adventure? Not you! Rumor has it that San Ignacio Town is the place to wind down summer and the perfect place to sojourn is Cahal Pech Village Resort. This is likely to be one vacation you’ll never forget--nor will you want to--if you make it your mission to celebrate the entirety of this magical month!
September 3rd is National Skyscraper Day. Even if you arrive later in the month you can still celebrate by roaming Cahal Pech Village Resort, the property that literally sits atop an ancient Maya ruin that qualifies as an example of the first skyscrapers in the Western Hemisphere. Fill your days with visits to other Maya skyscrapers, caves and ruins. Belize is home to 900 sites, so you will get your fill.
September 4th is Eat an Extra Dessert Day, but that glorious occasion doesn’t have to be marked on the exact day, either. Staying at Cahal Pech gives you access to The Ix'tabai Restaurant, where Culinary Institute of America-trained chefs turn out so many delectable dishes, eating may become your favorite activity. Desserts? It’s your vacation. Order as many as you like.
September 10th commemorates The Battle of St. George's Caye. This short military engagement off the coast recalls the last attempts by a Spanish Armada to wrest control of this land from the Brits. Roam San Ignacio Town to check out parties, parades and other festivities or celebrate in your own way: go caving, snorkel the Belize barrier reef and trek rainforests and jungles in search of exotic animals.
September 19th is Talk Like a Pirate Day. If you can’t get enough pirate lore, a visit to San Pedro’s House of Culture can introduce you to more. You won’t be expected to roam Cahal Pech with a parrot on your shoulder, but if seeing an astounding number of birds is on your must-do list, Belize is the birding capital of Central America, so ask your Cahal Pech host about bird-related tours.
September 21st is Independence Day, marking the anniversary of Belize’s independence from the U.K. when the name British Honduras was treated to a respectful send off. With each passing year, Independence Day gets bigger. Attend parades, parties, concerts and children’s events, plus The Expo, a celebration of all things Belize.
September 28th is international “Drink Beer Day,” and where better to pay tribute to this brew? Belize is the proud producer of Belikins and Belikins is on tap at Cahal Pech Village Resort, so quaff your thirst and celebrate the start of the fall season Belize style!
