April 1st, 2022, marks not only the beginning of a new month but also the beginning of a new chapter for Belizeans and travelers alike as the Government of Belize has officially taken steps to open back up the country by removing more of its COVID-19 regulations.
As of April 1st, 2022, mandatory mask-wearing indoors and outdoors is no longer required, unless by personal choice. For the first time in two years, party pubs, and clubs are now being allowed to reopen for business. Regulations such as social distancing have also been scrapped.
Under the new Statutory Instrument No.61 of 2022, the only regulations that will remain in place are the following;
1. All unvaccinated persons 5 years and above entering Belize via the airport must show proof of a negative rapid test (48hrs) or a PCR test (72hrs)
2. All unvaccinated foreigners 5 years and above entering through land or seaport must show proof of a negative rapid test (48hrs) or a PCR test (72hrs)
3. Belizeans 12 years and above wishing to exit Belize through air, land, or seaports must be fully vaccinated before exiting. Unvaccinated Belizeans will only be allowed to exit for medical purposes and must present a valid medical document.
If you are vaccinated and can show proof of such then you will be allowed entry into the country without undergoing any PCR or Rapid test. The Mandatory Travel Insurance for tourists remains in place.
