A brand new festival is scheduled to begin at 9:00 AM on September 15, 2018, at the Macal River Park in Cayo District. Called "West Fest" and organized by the Cayo District chapter of the Belize Tourism Industry Association (BTIA), the new festival will give businesses in Cayo District a chance to shine the spotlight on local artisans, culture, food, and services in a fun, family-friendly environment.
Running until 5:00 PM on September 15, West Fest will feature plenty of excitement and activities for attendees of all ages. West Fest will also include a raffle with several different prizes totaling more than $60,000 in value. The entrance fee to attend will be $2 and raffle tickets will cost BZ$25.
Some of the proceeds raised during West Fest will go towards the San Ignacio Police Formation and for community upliftment projects. Attendees are kindly requested to bring their own cups and bags as the event is part of an effort to promote sustainable eco-tourism practices in Cayo District. Businesses wishing to partake in West Best can book their spot until September 12, 2018.
BTIA has high hopes for West Fast and plans on making the festival a yearly event. Adult attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a wine tasting, and several vendors will be on hand to serve up cocktails and other adult beverages. As West Fest is a family-friendly festival, there will also be plenty of games and activities suitable for young children. All of the top businesses, artisans, and cultural ambassadors representing the full spectrum of people in Cayo District will be present, so it's sure to be an exciting event!
