Belize is a true melting pot of different cultures, and nothing demonstrates that better than the unique influences on the food. San Ignacio Town, the eco-tourism capital of Belize and the biggest town in the western Cayo District, is home to an eclectic mix of homemade foods, cafes, and restaurants, including the celebrated Ixtabai Restaurant on the premises of the Cahal Pech Village Resort.

Ixtabai Restaurant

Beginning at 7:00 AM every morning, the Ixtabai restaurant delivers a delicious assortment of local and international dishes. Open for drop-in visitors as well as guests of the resort, the Ixtabai restaurant is a family-friendly environment that is a great place for adventure travelers and honeymooners to enjoy a freshly-prepared meal before exploring the exciting attractions in and around San Ignacio.

All the chefs at the Ixtabai restaurant have been trained by the prestigious Culinary Institute of America. The restaurant serves up an ever-changing mix of dishes made from the freshest local ingredients. Whether you're interested in a perfectly seared rib eye steak or a fresh-caught plantain-crusted fish, there is something on the menu for everyone at Ixtabai. Drawing on the rich culinary heritage of Belize's British, Maya, Creole, Garifuna, and Caribbean influences, the chefs of Ixtabai always ensure that delicious, exciting meals are on the menu.

Nothing goes better with your gourmet dinner than one of the upscale libations on offer at Ixtabai. Whether it is a classic cocktail like Planter's Punch featuring delicious local rum or something more exotic, the mixologists at Ixtabai garnish all their drinks with organic, freshly squeezed local fruit juices. A wide selection of beers, wines, and spirits is also available. And don't forget to try one of Ixtabai's tempting desserts!

The Ixtabai restaurant is open for breakfast between 7:00 AM and 11:00 AM. Lunch is served from 12:00 noon to 6:00 PM and dinner runs from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. The restaurant is open to both guests of the Cahal Pech Village Resort as well as anyone visiting nearby San Ignacio Town. Reservations are generally not necessary.

The food and drink served at Ixtabai are just part of the overall experience. Diners will enjoy the panoramic scenery as the restaurant enjoys a fantastic view over the Belize River Valley. Three on-site pools and man-made waterfalls add to the unique ambience of dining at the Ixtabai restaurant.
