Today's photo of the day is of Caracol Maya Ruins.
Uxwitza or “Three Water Hill” was the ancient Maya name of Caracol and its early classic name was Ux Witz Ajaw or “Three Hills Lord”. It was A.H. Anderson, the Archaeological Commissioner for Belize that named this Maya Ruin Caracol in 1938. Caracol means “snail” in Spanish.
