Cave Tubing & Zip Lining – Two Popular Belize Adventures

With an impressively wild natural landscape teeming with exotic wildlife and gorgeous flowering plants, Belize is a fantastic place to enjoy outdoor adventures.

If you are coming to Belize, here are two activities that you simply can't miss:

Cave Tubing

Perhaps no activity in Belize is as iconic as cave tubing. Belize is home to a vast network of caves, and some of these colossal underground structures have a river running through them. Cave tubing involves using inflatable inner tubes to float down these rivers, passing for miles through a hauntingly beautiful subterranean world.

Beyond the geological splendor of seeing glittering stalactites and stalagmites, cave tubing also allows participants to enter the secret hidden world of the ancient Maya. The people who built the pyramids and palaces that dot the Belizean landscape believed that caves were doorways to the world of the gods, known as Xibalba, a terrifying realm of powerful demons who held sway over the fates of the Maya people. Left undisturbed for more than 1,000 years, these caves are home to priceless artifacts and other items left behind by ancient Maya priests.

For this tour, be sure to bring a swimsuit, a change of clothes, and a water-resistant camera.

Zip Lining

Although zip lining is an adrenaline-packed adventure experience, it is also an extremely safe one. Requiring little physical effort but daunting for people with a fear of heights, zip lining is the act of sailing through the jungle canopy along a series of steel cables known as zip lines.

Beyond the thrill of glimpsing the animals and plants of the jungle from a bird's eye view, zip lining is also a great way to learn more about nature. Many platforms are connected to a network of hiking trails that wend their way through some of the most pristine and ecologically diverse parts of Belize, a great opportunity to see rare birds, exotic wildlife, and spectacularly beautiful flowering plants.

For this tour, be sure to bring insect repellant, sun protection, sturdy shoes, and a camera.
