Yesterday, the CEO of Southwest Airlines, Gary Kelly announced that tickets for their Belize flights will begin May 15th 2015 at 3am.
The flights to Belize City from Houston start on Oct. 15th 2015 with the airline offering nonstop flights to Belize from Hobby Airport’s international terminal. This automatically puts the carrier in head to head competition with United Airlines which also flies to Belize from Houston.
Southwest Airlines is a popular airline for budget travellers and is known for allowing free baggage on flights of up to two (2), 50 lbs bags each, and charges no additional fees for changing tickets. Not bad at all.
According to Brad Hawkins, Senior Advisor in Communications for Southwest Airlines, the airline is not just for budget travelers, but for all kinds of travelers who will be coming to Belize.
“This flight to Belize will provide much needed competition," said Lloyd Alvarez, Reservations Manager at San Ignacio's Cahal Pech Resort, adding that Southwest's move will go a long way to reducing the overall cost of airfares to Belize.
